Who is Hillary Clinton
Clinton’s wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton, is a United States Senator from New York City, and former candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008. There has been word that she has been asked to serve as Secretary of State to Barrack Obama, President Elect 2008.
Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton was born October 26, 1947 at Edgewater Hospital in Chicago, Illinois and was raised in a middle-class family in Park Ridge, Illinois. Her father’s name is Hugh Ellsworth Rodham and her mother’s name is Dorothy Emma Howell. Her father operated a small but successful textile business while her mother was a homemaker. Hilary has two younger brothers Hugh and Tony Rodham. They suffered great sarcasm from their parents but had always striven hard for their approval.
Hillary earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science and graduated with honors in 1969 from Wellesley College. She then went on to Yale and graduated with a law degree in 1973, which is when she met her now husband Bill Clinton. In 1974 she moved to Arkansas and in 1975 married Bill.
Hilary was First Lady of Arkansas from 1979 to 1981 and again in 1983 to 1992. While her husband was Governor of Arkansas, Hilary was an active member of many organizations such as, child welfare, sitting on boards for Wal-Mart and several other corporations.
From 1993 to 2001 Hillary Rodham Clinton served as the First Lady of the United States. While serving as first lady, Hillary’s passion lied within the healthcare system. Tried as she might her healthcare plan would not even get a chance to get off the ground. So in 1997 and 1999, Hillary played a role in fighting for the establishment of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, the Adoption and Safe Families Act, and the Foster Care Independence Act.
Hillary Clinton moved to New York, where she was elected as senator for New York State in 2000. She took her seat as senator January 3, 2001. That election marked the first time an American First Lady had run for public office; Hillary is also the first female senator to represent New York. She was reelected in 2006 by a wide margin and then ran for Presidency in 2008 on the democratic ticket. Her Democratic component was Barack Obama.
